My Journey to the World Race

Hi! My name is Emily Moore and I would love to share some of my journey with y’all and how I came to this trip!

I first heard of the World Race through a leader at my church who had just returned from the eleven month World Race trip, and it had always been in the back of my mind, though I never thought that God could use me to do something like that. This past summer, everybody was asking me ‘What are you doing after graduation?’, and though I had thought that I had the perfect plan of pursuing nursing, God revealed how vast and grand his plans are compared to ours and how we could never fathom the ways that we can move for him.

During a summer camp with my church, I heard God speaking to me like I have never heard before. I have always struggled giving him all of the control because I love knowing the exact plans controlling what happens. As He started to reveal his plan to me, I started researching the World Race Gap Year and I fell in love with it. He gave me so much confidence in being able to share his word and peace to trust his timing.

Another trial that has made these 6 months crazy is some health issues. I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, which causes hypothyroidism, and Addison’s disease in the past four months, which are all autoimmune diseases. At times, I felt the most overwhelming sense of hopelessness, not seeing any future for myself, and at other times, God allowed me to discover the Prince of Peace who helped me stay calm in the midst of tribulations. Though this process has occurred in a matter of months rather than the years that some have to slowly figure out how to deal with it, God has revealed to me how my struggles have a purpose and though I am still struggling with the sickness, God has formed me through this experience to be more intentional with my prayer, words, and actions.

I am so grateful to God for protecting me throughout this past year and giving me the opportunity to share his love with his children across the world as I travel to Costa Rica, Eswatini, South Africa and Romania from September to May in 2022.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms”

1 Peter 4:10

This is a commandment to us all, no matter where He is leading us or where we are moving in the years to come.

I am so excited to share more of my journey leading up to the World Race and share my stories with you! It would mean so much to me if you would partner with me in prayer, pray for my team and advisors, and help me financially if that is something that you are led to do.

With love,

Emily

  1. How happy I am that you are following God’s leading! Learning to hear Him means you have been spending time in His presence. His presence is like no other. I commit to continued prayer as you make this journey in His name. It will be life changing, not only for you but also those whom God is even now placing in your path. May your walk with Him be strengthened and His place in you be enlarged!

  2. Emily, we are so proud of you. I cried when I read your story because I know how difficult this last year has been and how worried we all were, but also because I was blow away by how grown up you sounded and how much you have grown in your faith. God refines us through the struggles. Some draw near to Him during difficult times and some look for answers in other places. I am so thankful you are listening for His voice and His direction. His plan is always the best and most satisfying place to be. I’m grateful you are regaining your strength, and I am praying you continue to grow in confidence as you wait for God to not only provide for this trip but to reveal just how great and personal a God He really is. Where He guides, He provides. We love you!

  3. I saw many similarities in your story above to my own in dealing with giving up control, severe illness and faith. All my best and many prayers for your faith journey. (I work with your mom)
